Applications for Grants

The deadlines and descriptions have been updated. If one of the forms you need to use is dated 2016/17 that is ok, please use the forms linked to this site. 


Mini-grants

The Enrichment Fund encourages creative, hands-on classroom projects by providing grants to teachers who have innovative ideas on how to supplement the curriculum.

General Information

    • Individual grants are limited to a maximum of $500.  Group projects must include 3 or more teachers and can be awarded up to $1,200.
    • In order to receive a grant, projects must be hands-on, student-powered projects.  Grants will be awarded to projects that supplement the regular classroom curriculum and stimulate academic growth.
    • Grants will not be awarded for supply lists or kits.
    • Grant money must be spent in this school year and cannot be carried over to next school year. Unused money must be returned.
    • Grants can be partially funded.


Application Deadline

    • November 15
    • Grant recipients (the lead teacher for group projects) will be emailed by December 10.
    • Grant awards will be deposited in the school's account by January 20.


Application Requirements

    • Teachers must submit both Parts One and Two of the application form.
    • Group projects must include the names and signatures of all teachers applying for the grant.
    • The application may be completed online or printed out and mailed to: Enrichment Fund for the Guilford County Schools, Inc., P.O. Box 10208, Greensboro, NC 27404, marked “Mini-Grant Application.”


Verification

By May 31, grant recipients are required to provide to the Enrichment Fund:

    1. All relevant receipts for the project
    2. A brief evaluation of the project, either self-created or using the form provided on the Enrichment Fund’s website.

Failure to adhere to these rules will result in the teacher being ineligible for future grants.

Scholarships 

The purpose of the Enrichment Fund Scholarship Program is to provide assistance to Guilford County School students who have financial needs that prevent them from participating in enrichment activities.


General Information

    1. Students enrolled in grades K-12 are eligible to apply. 
    2. Seniors are not eligible for scholarships for programs occurring after graduation.
    3. Students may request up to 50% of the per-person cost (up to $100) for a field trip, though priority will be given to students with the greatest demonstrated financial need. 
    4. Barring extraordinary circumstances, applications from students with an annual family income of more than $20,000 will not be considered. Please note that families making less than $20,000 are not guaranteed funding.
    5. Scholarships for group field trips are only available for destinations within North Carolina plus Washington, D.C. 
    6. Any questions should be e-mailed to scholarships@enrichmentfund.org with the school’s name and field trip destination in the subject line.


Application Deadlines

The Scholarship Committee will consider applications in three rounds during the 2015-2016 school year at the times noted below. Scholarship funds will be awarded to qualified applicants until all scholarship funds budgeted for this school year are depleted.  Teachers are encouraged to submit students' applications as early as possible to maximize their chances of receiving financial assistance for their field trips.  Teachers may apply at any time during the year, but should not expect to receive notice of scholarships awarded until at least three weeks after the relevant application deadline.

Applications will not be considered without the following:

    1. The Field Trip Detail must report submitted by sponsoring teacher.
    2. A Student Online Application.
    3. Each student must supply a completed Parent Verification Form to their teacher.  The teacher must submit all forms in ALPHABETICAL ORDER to the Enrichment Fund for the Guilford County Schools, Inc., P.O. Box 10208, Greensboro, NC  27404. The packet of forms must be postmarked five days before the Application Deadlines.


Verification

Within 45 days after the field trip, the following information must be sent to the Enrichment Fund.  If a school fails to comply with these requirements, it will be barred from consideration for future scholarships for at least one year.

    1. List of scholarship recipients with the following information provided for each student with the amount of scholarship granted the amount of scholarship used or not used. 
    2. A check for the total amount of unused scholarship funds, if any.  


American National Bank Lending Library Grant

    • Application Deadline:  November 15
    • Attention 1st and 2nd Grade Teachers:  Get funding for take home leveled readers!  Individual grants for a maximum of $100 to be used to purchase take-home books for students reading below grade level.

The TE Connectivity Robotics Fund

    • TE Robotics Grant is available through April 1st of each school year

Dun & Bradstreet EdAhead Scholarships for STEM

The Guilford County Enrichment Fund, through the support of the Dun and Bradstreet EdAhead program, provides scholarships to students who have qualified for regional or national conferences or competitions related to Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM).


General Information

    • Students may request up to 50% of the per-person cost (up to $1000).
    • The fund gives priority to students with the greatest demonstrated financial need, however, all students invited to participate in the competition are eligible to apply.
    • The primary focus for this fund will be assisting students in grades 6 - 12.
    • Seniors are not eligible for scholarships for programs occurring after graduation.


Application Deadlines

The Committee will consider applications on an ongoing basis throughout the academic year.

Applications must be submitted a minimum of four weeks prior to the departure date of the trip. Funds will be awarded to qualified applicants until all budgeted funds for the school year are depleted. 


Application Requirements

    1. The EdAhead Teacher Detail Report must be submitted by the sponsoring teacher.
    2. An online Student Application must be completed for each student.
