Grants for Class Field Trips

The Enrichment Fund provides grants of up to $500 to help teachers cover the costs of local field trips with a direct educational component. Grants are intended for schools that welcome a larger number of students from disadvantaged communities. Assistance can be used for admission fees, transportation, and other associated expenses for individual students or entire classes.

General Information

Grants are available to all grades in the Guilford County school system.

Only applications submitted by teachers or professional staff in Guilford County Schools will be considered for funding.

Schools with student populations demonstrating the greatest financial need will be given priority as will field trips that involve larger numbers of students.

Grants are for a maximum of $500 per school per local field trip with no overnight component. Please coordinate with colleagues on ONE grant application if more than one class is participating in the trip. Combined totals may improve chances of receiving school assistance.

Grants will be awarded until the funds budgeted for the year are depleted. Awards may be for less than the requested amount depending on the number of applications received in a funding cycle.

Application Deadlines
October 15 and February 15

Only field trips that are scheduled for more than two weeks after a submission deadline will be considered for funding. For example: If you are applying before the October 15 deadline, your field trip must take place after October 29. You will be notified of a funding decision within three business days of the posted deadlines.

Verification
Within 45 days after the field trip, the Enrichment Fund must receive:

1. A receipt for any payments made with Field Trip Grant funds.

2. A check for the total amount of all unused grant money.

If a school fails to comply with these requirements, it will be barred from consideration for future grants for at least one year.
